TUCS is a non profit organisation of the Tasmanian University Union. As well as representing the body of Computing and Information Systems Students at UTAS, we provide services to students and staff wishing to learn or use web based technologies, such as online tutorials, web page hosting, and network file storage. We also host social events, such as BBQ’s and LAN parties.
History
Since being founded in 1996 (as IDS, the Internet Designers Society), with a name change to Internet Developers Society in 1999, TUCS has relied on the help of many volunteers, without whom it would not exist today. Take a look at the History page for detail
Aims
From our constitution, the aims of TUCS are:
- To provide members with the means to set-up and maintain a presence on the Internet.
- To provide a forum for the free exchange of ideas related to the field of computing.
- To be aware of the latest advancements in the field of computing.
- To host events in the University community that further the goals of the society by engaging the wider community
